The plastic plague

The course deals in detail with the topic of plastic. In addition to the production and use of plastic, its impact on health is examined.

What you can expect

Plastic is a man-made material that is used everywhere nowadays. Although its use has brought real benefits in many areas, it is causing major environmental problems: It is fueling the climate crisis and increasingly endangering our lives on earth. The course therefore takes an in-depth look at the topic of plastics. In addition to the production and use of plastics, its impact on health will be examined. Finally, we will give you tips on how to avoid plastics and reduce plastic waste in your professional environment and at home.

The course "The plastic plague" is made up of three modules. Modules 1 and 2 explain everything about plastic: its history, production and its impact on our health and the environment. Modules 1 and 2 are free of charge for you. Module 3 shows you concrete solutions on how we should deal with plastic waste and how it can be avoided as much as possible in households and doctors' surgeries.

The modules at a glance

Module 1 - The problematic impact of plastic on the environment

We think you should know: Many side effects of plastic are invisible and yet it significantly contributes to climate change and the extinction of species. This module explains exactly the connections, the role played by large corporations, why the flood of plastic waste is increasing and what nations are now doing to get the plastic crisis under control. Furthermore, we explain why "organic" plastic is not an alternative to the reduction of plastic waste. After this module, you will have understood what risks plastic poste for the environment.

Module 2 - Plastic and health

From fall 2024

Module 3 - Alternatives to plastic

From spring 2025
